Our oral history interns will gain valuable real-world experience in creating oral history interviews, an important part of the historical record, as they provide a first-hand account by the people who bore witness to unfolding events. Interns will be interviewing people who are important to our region in some way (culturally, historically, etc.). Interns will also complete pre-interview training and tasks, and post-interview assignments relevant to the project. Recordings of the interviews will then be transcribed and preserved in the CSUSM Library’s archives to be made available to future researchers interested in the subjects of local and regional history.
