Japan's efforts under SDG 7 are to avoid the use of fossil fuels and other fossil fuels that lead to air pollution when generating electricity, and sustainable energy development is underway. Examples include solar power and hydroelectric power generation that takes advantage of Japan's topography with its many mountains.
