Recurrent Abdominal Pain in Children

I was unable to find any high quality studies for children with recurrent abdominal pain using Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine or acupuncture. Acupuncture is used in Traditional Chinese medicine. While there are not any high quality studies among children with RAP using acupuncture, there is one study in Korean of 40 participants that reports lower pain intensity for children with intermittent abdominal pain using hand acupuncture (Hong, 2005). More research needs to be done in this are as acupuncture may be helpful in other pain symptoms such as headache (Rakel, 2017).

hello Patti,

thank you for your research and sharing it with us. abdominal pain especially in children is such a sensitive condition and i could understand why it would not be beneficial to try this type of alternative treatment. acupuncture in children would be so difficult and might cause more stress and anxiety to both the patient and the parents! im curious to know if it really works
