Providing spirituality in patients with mental illness can provide hope, joy and self-forgiveness. Spiritual guidance can also provide peace within themselves. According to Gomi, Starnino, and Canda (2014), spirituality is a key aspect of the recovery process in mentally ill patients. Religious involvement gives meaning and purpose to life (Gomi, Starnino, & Canda, 2014). I work in a psych unit and every Sunday, there is a spiritual service. I noticed that at the end of each service, patients feel calm and joyful. They connect with each other much better. I believe that spirituality strengthens the heart and soul, and can give peace and love with or without illnesses.
